Land at Begelly

Planning permission was being sought to allow the development of an agricultural field that was surrounded by woodland near Begelly. During the ecological survey, hazel nuts opened in the characteristic way by dormice were found in the woodland along the boundary. As this would have been a new record for this species for a 15km radius, nest tubes surveys were undertaken. By liaising with the LPA and Natural Resources Wales prior to the submission of the application, an acceptable mitigation strategy was designed and planning permission has subsequently been granted.
